Intro: section at the beginning of a song meant to hook the listener and introduce the song.
Verse: section where harmony stays the same but the lyrics change each time. Might tell a story or explain/add detail to the theme of the song.
Refrain: repeated line/ or lines at the end of a verse that contains the main idea or theme of the song. Used often in songs that do not have a chorus. Common in folk/songwriter forms.
Chorus: section that returns over and over in a song with little or no variation in the lyrics. Carries the big idea of the song, usually lots of repetition in the lyrics. Strongest melody. Part people remember
Bridge: contrasting section that usually happens once in a song.
Solo: section that highlights one instrument
Other: This is not an exhaustive list. If you hear something different or are unsure toss this into the map and figure it out later!
